What is it?
If you drive a manual transmission car, you would have to use your clutch to change gears. The job of the clutch is to transfer power from the engine to the transmission.
Why to get it repaired/checked?
Clutches nowadays normally last for roughly 130,000 km’s, mainly if they are used gently and maintained well. However, if not used gently the life of the clutch is realistically halved compared to that of a healthy one.
Main clutch problems experienced nowadays include
- Clutch slips
- When the engine revs, but the car doesn’t move or not at all.
- Problems getting into gear
- Clutch chatter
- A grabbing/jerking condition that occurs when the clutch is engaged.
- Clutch noise
